Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Review

Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Review

In this article, I am going to show you my results with taking Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass and I am going to back up this review article with a story on how people saw visible changes in my body.

First and foremost, I know I reviewed Gold Standard Gainer, which you can check out under reviews. However, there are differences which I'll get to later in this article.

Optimum nutrition is often used by fitness enthusiasts, bodybuilders, athletes, even personal trainers like me that recommend it. However, I'll get to the cons a little later.

Serious Mass provides you with the tools you need to support your weight gains goals. You need whey protein if you aren't a vegetarian. This can also replace a daily snack routine.

How to Start Out Using This Mass Gainer Protein Powder

New users should start with a 1-scoop half serving. Use post-workout and/or between meals to add calories, carbs and protein to your healthy, balanced diet.

You are getting Vitamins & Essential Minerals with an emphasis on B-Vitamins Antioxidants so you will feel energized after taking this mass gainer protein powder. You will absolutely achieve your weight gain goals with this muscle building supplement.

I know that this company is a big name in the fitness field. Some people love it. Some people don't due to the prices. I'll get to that later. All I will say is you will gain serious mass taking this supplement. Always check with a qualified healthcare professional for new users.

Why I Chose to Review Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass

In case you didn't know, the supplement industry is filled with horrible whey protein with very good marketing. When you actually read the ingredients, you realize that you are consuming milk with pea protein. I'm looking at you MRE.

I hate to be harsh here but I had a very upset stomach after drinking that. Never again. The whole purpose for this article is to tell you the reader...

I've been training for 7 years. The only protein I noticed that my body can handle the best is ON.

That of course means Optimum Nutrition and of course the top 3 supplements I recommend on my blog.

A Quick Story on When I Was Taking Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass

A few days ago I saw this younger dude, he walked up and told me... "Bro your chest is SHREDDED. What do you do for physical activity?"

I said to him straight up... "Lifting weights brother. I also take plenty of supplements." And then I left my shift that day. Not to mention I force myself to complete very intense workouts.

So here's what I did, I decided to weigh myself and I gained 3.5 full inches in my chest and back. This is why I chose to review this product. I did not measure my shoulders but it shows in this picture below. You can see weight gain for yourself.

Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Results

Left is 142 September 2023           Right is 150 December 2023

As you can see, I have a lean physique. You might even think my biceps are bigger on the left. However, the muscles in my chest and back from when I had this picture taken from my Optimal Training article...

Full transparency, I neglected abdominal work. I started doing more abdominal work throughout along with the weight training program I'm creating. I always like to keep it real on my progress with fitness supplements I take.

You can't deny these results. I worked really hard to bring my body fat down. Last but not least, understand that I'm not perfect in my nutrition.

I'll admit to all my readers that I make Avocado Brownies. And it's really fucking good. I don't eat it all the time. But when I do, I make sure to knock out 100 burpees after I eat that delicious dessert.

How This Supplement Helps with Weight Gain

I have been struggling to gain some weight, as everyone knows, I have a lean physique. Even with upping my daily calorie intake and using other supplements such as GSC Gold Standard, I honestly didn't gain too much weight, I got more shredded instead.

I started using the Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass to make shakes and began to gain weight. I have gained 8 pounds in six weeks. That is a lot for someone who has not been able to gain.

The chocolate flavor tastes very good and it is not gritty like a lot of shakes. If you are struggling with gaining mass, I highly recommend this mass gainer.

It's time to stop thinking small; get serious – Serious Mass. 1,250 calories per serving in water; 1,630-plus calories when made with low fat milk. I'll give you a better alternative if you can't handle dairy later.

50 grams of protein from a combination of faster and slower digesting sources including Whey, Casein, and Egg. 250-plus grams of carbohydrates to support fueling of intense workouts, and aid in the replenishment of glycogen stores - with NO ADDED SUGAR.

Serious Mass is a substantial weight-gain supplement that can be used to feed serious calorie needs in a variety of different ways.

How to Take Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Throughout The Day

For many aspiring to be bigger, highly-active metabolisms, weaker appetites, and on-the-run lifestyles make consuming sufficient calories through whole foods alone a real challenge.

Serious Mass protein powder is the ultimate muscle building and weight gain formula Each serving contains 1,260 calories, 50 grams of protein and 253 grams of carbohydrates to support muscle recovery and help fuel workouts. Here is how to take this mass gainer:

How to Drink Serious Mass Through the Day

BETWEEN MEALS: Drink ½ -1 serving of Serious Mass between meals to maintain positive nitrogen balance and support a high-calorie diet.

POST-WORKOUT: Begin drinking ½ -1 serving of Serious Mass 30-45 minutes following exercise to support maximum recovery

How to Drink Serious Mass Before Sleeping

BEFORE BED: Drink ½ -1 serving of Serious Mass about 45-60 minutes before bed to provide nutrients to recovering muscle throughout the night. NOTE: For best results use Serious Mass combined with intense weight training (3-5 times per week) and a sensible whole foods diet.

This is how I would take this mass gainer protein powder. Serious weight gain requires serious calories. However, those who need the extra calories most, often have the toughest time consuming enough of them. So let's get to the nutrition of serious mass protein powder. You will 110% see weight gain.

Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Nutrition Facts

This fills you up extremely FAST. Leads to my number one con with this product. I do not encourage two scoops for the average person taking this for the first time. I encourage one scoop.

I learned this through just being a tad bloated. For that reason, this is rated a 8 out of 10. More on this rating a little later. I gave GSG which is short for gold standard gainer a 9 out of 10.

Meaning I do prefer gold standard gainer in terms of ZERO stomach problems. Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass is more for seasoned lifters as well.

Some of the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in this are the following: Magnesium Aspartate, Di-calcium Phosphate, D-calcium Pantothenate, Calcium Citrate, Manganese Amino Acids Chelate, Zinc Citrate, Ascorbic Acid, Niacinamide, Biotin, Beta Carotene, Selenomethionine, Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Gluconate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid etc.

In case you don't know what Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate really is, here's what this amino acid can do for you. It is a supplement that combines Molybdenum with amino acids which is the building blocks of protein.

Pro's of Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Gainer

You will get results taking Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass. There's no denying it. This is a trustworthy brand in the supplement industry.

My results can attest to it. However, start out with one scoop as I said. Don't overdo it. Listen to your body. You are getting creatine monohydrate in this product. And it's going to accelerate your results.

The key ingredients in the Protein Blend are Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Egg White, Sweet Whey.

Egg white protein in my mind is always extremely beneficial. Those of you vegetarians reading, this is not for you. However, for the average guy looking to gain some serious muscle, I recommend you give this a shot.

For an ideal post workout, this will aid in muscle building from the hard work you've done. Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass tastes great and dissolves well in milk but works best in a blender. I'll get to the taste later.

Con's of Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass

This product is not at all for beginners just getting started in weight training. I encourage you to start taking this after you've built up a tolerance to whey protein. More importantly, you know your body better than anyone. You also get sweet dairy whey, which may be a con for some vegetarians.

However, I am not a vegetarian. I also encourage you buy an electric blender because this tastes best when it's blended. Again, this doesn't really bother me, but some people out there might care about that.

When you are looking for a substantial weight gain supplement, there are many things that you must consider looking for and that is the following:

  • Calorie content
  • Protein
  • Carbohydrates
  • Healthy fats
  • Vitamins and essential minerals

This can easily replace calorie contributing foods and become a meal replacement, however, this is my number one problem with this product, it contains soy. So I dropped this down two points and it's a little pricey for some people.

However, the reason for the second point down is it only has 3g of micronized creatine powder. And you will need a post workout recovery tool as part of a complete meal to raise caloric intake. What is that? An electric blender brothers.

How Does Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Taste?

I've tried the chocolate peanut butter protein powder and I personally enjoy the taste. However, taste is all perception. It will be different for you than me.

So I'll tell you how to improve taste for this mass gainer protein powder. If you want a higher calorie shake, this is why you gotta stay full...

The nutrition you need after a workout and between meals shake Mix 2 scoops of the powder into 24 fluid ounces of cold water or milk using an electric blender with a few ice cubes as well.. Mix into any beverage. That's how to make this muscle building post workout shake.

This allows to you add in fruits, peanut butter and other calorie-contributing foods. TIP: New users should start with a 1-scoop half serving

Here's what you can do if you want to sweeten your protein drinks in a blender.  Add Organic Pure Maple Syrup. Just one tablespoon. And just a pinch of sea salt. Use low fat milk or unsweetened almond milk.

How to Enhance The Taste of Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass

You can use other calorie contributing foods such as gluten free rolled oats in your smoothies. Any time you have other calorie contributing foods, you are getting the benefits of keeping yourself full for a long time, especially if you have weight gain goals.

I suggest adding more to your protein shakes. So let's talk about that and address enhancing taste. The purpose for this section is to give you a tip on enhancing the taste for people who find it too bland.

Organic maple syrup will bring out the sweetness. Believe me, I have made protein smoothie using optimum nutrition serious mass chocolate peanut butter for a long time. Get the pink himalayan salt. Not the shitty kind.

A tad bit of salt with sweetness goes a long way. JUST A LITTLE BIT. Do not overdo it on the salt. Mass gainers can often taste like shit. This does not taste like shit. However, you need blended protein powder if you don't want it to taste so fucking thick.

If you get the chocolate flavor, I encourage you to enhance the taste. Optimum Nutrition releases another weight gainer protein powder (in my mind) can be very thick to most people taking it.

Why I Prefer This Mass Gainer Protein Powder

Now it's time to cover the only reason I prefer very FEW mass gainers. Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Gainer is one of them.

It contains glutamine peptides in which you are getting essential EAAs. Its time to tell you all how this plays out in your body.

Glycogen stores are the storage form of glucose in the body, primarily found in the liver and muscles:

  • When you consume carbohydrates, they are broken down into glucose, which is either used immediately for energy or stored in the form of glycogen.
  • The liver stores glycogen to maintain blood glucose levels, while muscles store glycogen to provide energy during physical activity.

Glutamine peptides are a form of the amino acid glutamine that is bonded to other amino acids to form peptide molecules. Here are some key points about glutamine peptides:

  • Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning that the body can produce it in small amounts but may require higher levels during times of stress, intense exercise, or illness.
  • Glutamine is important for various physiological functions, including immune system support, gut health, and muscle recovery.
  • Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds.
  • Glutamine peptides are created by bonding glutamine molecules with other amino acids to form peptide compounds.

Some of you probably don't give a single fuck about that but this is to give you an idea of how your body breaks down protein and carbohydrates.

This weight gainer protein powder in my mind has an impressive protein to carbohydrate ratio.

The Bottom Line: Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Gainer

All in all, this is definitely a protein solution that can and will get you some serious gains.

If you want to maximize gains, I encourage you to increase calorie intake and use a blender, do not have any added sugar. And use some rolled oats for added carbs.

If you are under 18 years of age or have a suspected medical condition, that's the rare case where I'd choose Gold Standard Whey Protein Powder.

The whole reason for two points down is the fact that creatine monohydrate is under-dosed. You would need to get creatine monohydrate separately. However, it does have L-glutamine, glutamine peptides, Choline, Inositol, PABA, and MCTs.

Lastly, you will need to buy a blender. You can't get away with not using one as it will taste thick as fuck and the consistency won't be as good without a blender.

However it does have an impressive 1:5 protein to carbohydrate ratio. Hence the reason for the high rating.

And lastly, the results it gave me and people noticing, it's definitely a great option for seasoned lifters.

Don't expect fast results. You need a good workout plan on top of taking Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass. Feel free to ask me any questions below and I'll do my best to respond.
