  • 1 tsp Baking Powder: Helps your banana bread rise, making it soft and airy.

  • 3 Ripe Bananas: Bananas are packed with potassium to support muscle recovery and provide natural sweetness.

  • 1/4 cup Unrefined Coconut Oil: This adds healthy fats for sustained energy and helps keep the bread moist.

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract: A rich flavor that will elevate the chocolate and banana combo.

  • 1 Egg: Helps bind everything together and adds protein for muscle repair.

  • 1/3 Cup of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: For added flavor and heart health.

Preheat Oven at 350

This is literally the easiest baked goods dish you'll ever make. Not like the Avocado Brownie recipe where it can be tricky to get the chocolate out of the blender.

Make sure you preheat the oven at 350 to prepare for chocolate banana bread. After this step, you lightly coat 4 x 8-inch loaf pan with olive oil spray or coconut spray. Don't use PAM. That is trash.

After that, this is when its time to combine the three ripe banana's in a mixing bowl with the rest of the wet ingredients.

Mix Wet Ingredients in a Mixing Bowl for Chocolate Banana Bread

How to Combine the Wet Ingredients

Now that you’ve gathered your ingredients, let’s get to work! Here’s how to combine your wet ingredients to ensure that your chocolate banana bread turns out moist, flavorful, and packed with the nutrients you need:

  1. Mash the Bananas: Start by peeling your three ripe bananas. Place them in a large mixing bowl, and mash them well using a fork or potato masher. You want a smooth consistency, but it's okay if there are a few small chunks—this adds a nice texture to the bread.
  2. Melt the Coconut Oil: If your unrefined coconut oil is solid, gently melt it in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Once melted, add it to the mashed bananas. This healthy fat helps keep the bread moist and provides a steady source of energy.
  3. Add the Vanilla Extract: Pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. This adds a deep, aromatic flavor that enhances the sweetness of the bananas and the richness of the chocolate.
  4. Crack in the Egg: Add the egg to the bowl. Eggs provide a binding quality, ensuring that your ingredients stick together while offering a solid source of protein to fuel your muscles.
  5. Add the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: Finally, fold in 1/3 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Not only do they add rich flavor, but they also offer heart-healthy antioxidants. The chocolate will melt slightly while baking, giving you delicious pockets of chocolatey goodness throughout the bread.

Once these ingredients are mixed together, you’ll have a smooth, cohesive wet mixture that’s ready to combine with your dry ingredients.

Mix The Dry Ingredients for Chocolate Banana Bread

How to Combine the Dry Ingredients

Now that you’ve got your wet ingredients ready, it’s time to bring together the dry ingredients to create the perfect foundation for your chocolate banana bread. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Measure and Add the Flour: Start by measuring 1 cup of Bob’s Red Mill All-Purpose Flour. This flour is made from wholesome grains that provide the necessary structure and texture to your banana bread. Add it to a medium-sized bowl.

  2. Add the Almond Flour: Next, add 1/2 cup of Bob’s Red Mill Almond Flour. This flour is a great source of healthy fats and a little extra protein—perfect for fueling your body and supporting muscle recovery. The almond flour also adds a slight richness to the texture, which complements the moistness of the bananas.

  3. Stir in the Coconut Sugar: Measure out 3 tablespoons of coconut sugar, a natural, unrefined sweetener that won’t spike your blood sugar. It adds the right amount of sweetness without the crash, giving you steady energy to power through your day or workout. Pour it into the dry mix.

  4. Add the Baking Powder: To make sure your banana bread rises properly and has that perfect soft, airy texture, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder. This ingredient ensures that your bread doesn’t turn out too dense and gives it that bakery-quality fluffiness.

Once all the dry ingredients are in the bowl, use a whisk or spoon to mix them together thoroughly. You want to ensure everything is evenly distributed before combining with the wet ingredients.

This will make sure your bread rises evenly and has that smooth texture you’re looking for. I'd even buy Bob's Red Mill Baking Powder if I were you.

Now that your wet ingredients and dry ingredients are prepped and ready, it’s time to bring them together for the perfect batter. Here's how to combine them:

  1. Pour the Wet Ingredients into the Dry: Take the bowl with your wet ingredients (bananas, coconut oil, vanilla extract, egg, and chocolate chips) and slowly pour it into the bowl with your dry ingredients.
  2. Stir Gently: Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Be careful not to over-mix—over-mixing can cause your banana bread to be dense. You want to combine them just enough that no dry flour is visible, and everything is nicely incorporated.
  3. Scrape the Sides: As you mix, use your spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl to make sure all the ingredients are getting well combined.
  4. Don’t Worry About Lumps: It’s okay if the batter is slightly lumpy. That’s a sign that you haven’t overworked the dough, and your bread will be soft and fluffy.

Don't be intimidated by all these steps, I've made this dish for like five years, it's very simple, once you get used to it. Believe me, it's not a hard dish to make.

Place Batter into Loaf Pan

As you can see, there are many ways you can add the chocolate chips. Just remember measure out the chocolate chips. Don't overdo it.

The point is to place the batter in to the prepared loaf pan. Bake it for 40 to 45 minutes. Then take it out and let it cool down for 5 minutes.

Here is the best test that it's cooked through... Insert a toothpick through the chocolate banana bread in the center and make sure it comes out clean.

Let it cool down for 5 minutes. See how simple it is to make? Just give it a shot. Eat this before lifting to a feeder workout. It's important to carb up prior to lifting.

One last note I'll make about this quick and easy dessert... You can freeze this for up to 3 months, make sure you freeze it after 3 or 4 days.
