Do not overlook the importance of nutrition. There is an article you may come across for muscle mass, however, this is article is more about meal timing, and what foods to eat generally speaking.
Post workout nutrition is crucial for achieving specific fitness goals, as it helps tailor nutrition plans according to the type of exercise, whether endurance or resistance training.
Macronutrients matter after you workout my friends. I’m sure you’ve heard this before. But let me be more clear about this…
Macronutrients for Post Workout Recovery

Here is a study from 2017 that shows the importance of eating protein post workout has an effect on muscle strength and recovery.

Here’s a list of good carbs for you to consume…
- Sprouted grain bread
- Whole wheat pasta
- Quinoa

Now, am I including some of these foods in the recipes? No, but you can make your own breakfast, for example, whole fruit with greek yogurt for protein.
Replenishing muscle glycogen with carbohydrates after exercise is essential to enhance recovery and reduce muscle breakdown.
Let’s keep moving forward with the best post workout meals.
Poached Eggs with Asparagus Toast

You need to learn how to poach eggs. And I want to be clear, it doesn’t need to be a perfectly poached egg, just go through my article.
Read the instructions on how to poach eggs the right way. For extra added protein, do two eggs in a boiling pot of water.
More importantly, use olive oil in a medium sauce pan, put 8 asparagus in the pan and let the asparagus cook till slightly browned. Add salt and pepper for flavor. Healthy fats like olive oil can help reduce inflammation and aid in nutrient absorption.
After that, toast your sprouted grain bread, and now you are done. All you do is you put the asparagus on the toast when it's finished.
Then you put the poached eggs in a strainer, and carefully use a slotted spoon, and put it on top of the toast. Protein is crucial for muscle repair and recovery, making this meal perfect post-workout.
BOOM. Delicious. You gotta try this, it’s very good.

This meal is excellent for supporting muscle growth due to its balanced protein and nutrient content.

Slow Cooked Poblano Pork with Baked Potato

Before we even get in to the recipe, you need 1 large poblano pepper. To char poblano, turn your stove to medium high flame.
Carefully place poblano directly on the burner and over the flame, using tongs. Poblano will slowly get little blisters that will turn black.
Turn frequently, so that the entire poblano is evenly charred on all sides. Do not leave unattended because you want the skin to darken, but do not burn entirely and turn to ash.
Remove blackened poblano. Place in a resealable plastic bag for five minutes, or until skin is easily removed.
Here’s everything you need for this recipe:
1 lb Raw Center-Cut Pork Loin
2 tsp. Ghee
1 tsp. ground smoked paprika
1 Large Poblano Pepper
2 Cloves of Garlic
1/4 Medium Red Onion cut in to Chunks
1/4 Reduced-Fat Sour Cream
1/4 Fresh Cilantro
1 tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
1 tsp. Ground Cumin
1 tsp. Chili Powder
This meal is excellent for supporting muscle growth due to its balanced protein and nutrient content.
Pat the pork loin dry with paper towels
Coat pork with ghee. Season lightly with salt and pepper (if desired). Sprinkle evenly with paprika and rub seasoning in. Set aside
Place charred poblano, garlic, onion, sour cream, cilantro, lime juice, cumin and chili powder in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Set aside.
Preheat cast iron skillet, or heavy-bottomed pan, over high heat. Add pork; sear for 2 minutes on each of four sides, or until deep brown. Set aside.
Place seared pork in 3 quart slow cooker. Pour poblano mixture over top; cover and cook on low for 5 hours maximum or until pork is tender.
This is such a good recipe to even make for yourself or if you have a girlfriend, she will be impressed.
It's a southwestern style flavored pork and you have the option to bake a potato if you are bulking. You need carbs post workout, especially if you're a hardgainer, like me.
The Bottom Line
Every one of these meals are excellent post workout due to the high amount of protein and carbohydrates.
Especially with how important it is to get in the right macro-nutrients and meet your daily caloric needs.
I will always promote living a healthy lifestyle and that means eating the right foods, because as we know, if you've heard any shocking truth's on Adam Skoda...
I absolutely despise all fast food places such as McDonalds, Burger King, Mr Hero, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Arby's.
A common enemy that you'll hear me talk about on my podcast. If you want to get fit and STAY FIT, fast food chains is the enemy if you have a goal to lose weight.
Let me tell you all something, I met someone who worked at Wendy's. She told me how they make the Chili, and it's literally leftovers carelessly tossed in a bag and the protein quality literally makes you sick.
So I suggest you put some effort in to your nutrition and make the Homemade Chili. Don't choose the easy way out, be a man, and choose hard over easy.
Feel comfortable to comment below how much you loved all of these recipes. I've made each one, and they are REALLY GOOD.
