It’s time that I have a talk with you about the five biggest reasons you’re not seeing abs. And I’m here to be honest with you.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it, in fact, if you’ve been a reader of my blog for awhile, you know that I tell you like it is.

I’ve been in the fitness scene for quite some time (5 years of fitness coaching to be exact) and I’ve seen the scams and lies people believe.

So I’m going to tell you a few things that will challenge your beliefs, let’s cut straight to it man.

And to be clear, I’m showing you my transformation to basically tell you that I’m not blowing smoke up your ass.

You’re Not Seeing Abs Because You Fall For Fitness Myths

Eating fat makes you fat. Eating carbs makes you fat. Eating protein makes you fat. Are you fucking kidding me?

Throughout the years, I’ve heard people actually say this. And some of these people I personally know.

First off, the right kinds of fat is extremely beneficial for weight loss and it can help you lose weight.

For example, fatty fish, avocado, Brazilian nuts (excellent to boost testosterone), eggs, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.

I can go on and on, however, you my friend have to understand something.

Fats are extremely beneficial for your body. Your body uses fat to build testosterone and muscle cells.

You should never cut out fat. One of the first coaches I’ve learned from years ago told me that he got rid of fat.

Then he said he looked horrible and too fucking skinny. He lost his muscle, and then when he started eating healthy fats, it came back. So my friend, you must stop falling for these myths.

You Eat Unhealthy Carbs

This is the first big reason you’re not seeing abs. Why?

Well let’s see here, because you eat the wrong kind of carbs because does indeed cause weight gain. 

I’ll list some of the carbs that you must avoid if you want abs:

  • Doughnuts
  • Soft pretzels
  • Potato chips
  • French fries
  • White bread
  • Pasta
  • Sweetened yogurt
  • Milk
  • Gummy candy

Now here are some of the healthy carbs that you can ABSOLUTELY eat without gaining weight:

  • Quinoa
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Lentils
  • Greek yogurt
  • Oats
  • Strawberries
  • Brown rice
  • Mangoes
  • Goji berries
  • Garbanzo beans

These are the foods you want man. You see there’s a reason why most people have no idea about how to eat the right carbs.

It’s because they over eat on the wrong kind of carbs. 

Now listen man, some of the foods I listed can be consumed in moderation, so I recommend you track that shit, write it down.

If you don’t, then you will gain weight because you aren’t paying attention to how much of the unhealthy carbs you eat.

You’re Not Seeing Abs Because You Don’t Track Food

This one actually took me a long time to start doing (to be honest) because it’s not easy. As of recently, I’ve been tracking my food in a journal.

And particularly. I track macronutrients because this is really fucking important if you want to see abs. 

Now as I said, I’m speaking from experience, tracking this shit is not easy. But I know that when I track my food, even when I eat out, I can see a difference in my performance in the gym.

So how do you track your food intake? Bro, just get a journal, write everything down that you eat. Yes, everything. I don’t care if you snack on a fucking Twix bar, write that down too.

You’ll get clarity on what you eat and it’s going to help you see what you can improve with your diet. This is actually really important brother.

Not tracking food can stop you getting the body you want. Don’t try to come up with excuses. I know it’s hard, I am right there with you.

But as I’ve said on this blog before, choose an easy life and your life will be hard. Choosing the easy way out is not masculine.

Do you want to see abs? I hate to say this to you (and I’m saying this to myself as well.) You’ve got to do the painful tasks that seem annoying.

I really want you to follow this to a tee because this is a lot of the reason people over eat. They get caught up in eating, then they forget how much they ate.

Once you see how much you eat, you’ll be able to see where you can improve your diet. It will be hard, but it will pay off, I promise you that.

You’re Not Drinking Enough Water

Drinking a gallon of water a day boosts your metabolism man. It helps keep you regular.

I actually drink a cup of water every morning when I first wake up because it kickstarts metabolism very quickly.

And also if you’ve done my free HIIT workout, you’ll enhance exercise performance.

You see there are a ton of benefits of drinking a gallon of water a day.

  • It promotes skin health
  • Great for athletes when they fatigue in their performance
  • Helps with weight management [R]

Drinking the right amount of water can shred the fat off. I’ve done all kinds of training such as plyometrics, core training, German Volume Training, even PHAT training.

And every time I drink water, I feel my metabolism increasing in the morning when I consume water. It kickstarts your day on the right note.

You see I’ve encouraged my clients to drink plenty of water, they report that they have more energy.

So honestly, this is a critical component of shredding the fat off your body and can easily be the reason you’re not seeing abs.

 

You Think Fasted Cardio Helps You Lose Weight

I’ve heard this one like crazy. You do not run away the pounds by going on the treadmill for two hours straight in the morning.

And even if you do intermittent fasting, it doesn’t fucking matter. It all comes down to what you put in your mouth.

Not attempting to run away the pounds. This is not how you see abs. 

In fact you aren’t even remotely working the abs when you run, you eventually have to do abdominal work whether you like it or not.

Another mistake I see people do is they do this ass backwards. “Adam will it help if I do core training, burpees, and then run on the treadmill?”

I always say the same thing to them, “Stop going on the treadmill AFTER core training.”

Here’s what I do with one-on-one personal training sessions. I use the treadmill as a means to warm-up. 

And then I take them through the conditioning workout, and guess what? The ab moves come AFTER the treadmill.

You got it all wrong man. You have to warm up your body, do the conditioning exercises, and then you add up the intensity by putting in the core training. 

And even if you burned 600 calories, that doesn’t change jack shit if you haven’t applied healthy eating in your diet.

What’s the common denominator if you’ve not changed what you eat? You’re shitting all over yourself.

Most people nowadays are choosing to eat crap foods and they think if they do fasted cardio that they can go back to eating like shit. 

Sorry man, this is a shit lesson you won’t learn if you can’t control what you put in your mouth.

Don’t focus on doing fasted cardio if you still can’t control yourself on eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer.

You’re Not Seeing Abs Because You Drink Too Much

Yeah man, I know, this one is a hard pill to swallow. But you see too much drinking is going to always fuck with your progress.

If you cannot control your drinking habits, there is no way at all that you will see abs.

And the reason why I was able to get abs (not through cheating by doing performance enhancements) I simply don’t drink.

On occasion, I like wine, but then again I don’t really drink a lot of wine. 

You see if you’ve been a long time reader of my blog, you know that drinking too much is one of the habits that kills masculinity.

So if you want to see abs, then you must cut out drinking beer. Or at least bring it down immensely.

A faster way to weight loss is simply stop drinking altogether, but as I said, if it’s too hard for you, really cut back and control yourself.

The Bottom Line

I want to give you the most realistic and honest reasons you’re not seeing abs.

Because most people hate hearing the hard truth, you see the hard truth is where you’ll grow.

Unless you’re willing to actually put in the work, you won’t see much change in your life staying where you’re at.

Half of the reason you’re not seeing abs is (no offense) you’re being soft and a wimp. 

I mean come on, we live in a society where you can order food and get it delivered to your door.

That to me screams fucking laziness. Do you REALLY want to see abs if you’re guilty of this?

Stop feeling so goddamn sorry for yourself and mentally attacking your self-image. This is victim mentality.

I want you to succeed, but sitting around, watching movies, having no purpose literally doesn’t get you abs either.

So if you want to get the abs and lose the weight, get out of your head man.

Success starts when you take action in spite of fear.

In the fitness scene, people fall out time and time again. 

You see, the only way that you see abs is you don’t fucking quit.

You take persistent action and you don’t care if you fail. Have the mentality of not fucking quitting.

That’s what it takes my friend. You see it took me six motherfucking years to see abs! 

Why? Because I made mistakes but I learned from them and I did High Intensity Interval Training. 

Do it every day, but don’t sit around acting helpless.
