Here’s what I have to say to all of this motivation bullshit, fuck New Year’s Resolutions. Seriously, that’s what I have to say. Why am I starting out with being harsh?

You came to an article where I am being HONEST on what people do. Here’s what resolution’s really are…

THEY ARE FAKE GOALS THAT PEOPLE SET BECAUSE NO ONE STICKS TO IT LONG-TERM

Now that I got that out of the way, let’s get down to it shall we? People have no idea on how to actually set goals.

So let’s get down to business my friend. If you truly want to achieve goals, you cannot start then stop. That’s not how it works.

I’m going to dive deeper in to what New Year’s Resolutions actually means for you and how to achieve what you want.

Understanding New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions are more than just a tradition; they are a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. These resolutions are your chance to set goals that can transform your life in the upcoming year.

Whether it’s something as simple as drinking more water or as ambitious as advancing in your career, understanding the essence of New Year’s resolutions is the first step towards making them matter.

They are not just a to-do list; they are a commitment to self-improvement and personal development. So, take a moment to reflect on what you truly want to achieve and why it matters to you.

Let’s get to the first truth bomb about New Year’s Resolutions. Embrace delayed gratification because this is a marathon, not a one-hundred meter sprint.

New Year’s Resolutions Aren’t a Sprint

New Year's Resolutions Aren't a Sprint

The first reason all New Year’s Resolutions fail is because you expect fast results. Instant gratification. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the instant gratification in today’s society makes me sick.

You complain you aren’t seeing results within the first two months of starting your fitness journey? Developing a new habit takes time and persistence. I have news for you my friend, if you go through my weight loss journey through HIIT training, you will see that it took me years to see the results I wanted.

Establishing new habits requires preparation and scheduling. So even if you want to improve in your fitness journey or achieve any other goal you want to achieve, you gotta fail my friend. Success loves speed as I have said before, however, success requires failing. But that doesn’t mean give up on your goals.

Research Shows Celebrities Even Have New Year’s Resolutions

Check this out my friend, generally I don’t follow trends, however I do my research and here’s what I’ve found. There are celebrities that set New Year’s Resolution’s, you’ll see it here.

So if you think you’re a hard case, don’t feel so lonely. Everyone has goals to get their shit together. Everyone know’s where they can improve.

Understand that if you get frustrated, that’s normal. In fact, you’re about to grow. You need to FOCUS on your resolutions.

Setting Effective Resolutions

Setting effective resolutions is not about making a wish list; it’s about creating a roadmap for success. The key is to set SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This means breaking down your big dreams into smaller, actionable steps.

For instance, if your goal is to lose weight, start by setting a target weight and a timeline. Then, outline the steps you need to take, such as adjusting your diet and incorporating regular exercise. Prioritize your goals and focus on the most important ones first. By setting effective resolutions, you’re not just hoping for change; you’re planning for it.

Prioritizing Self-Care and Relationships

Your New Year’s resolutions should not just be about achieving goals but also about improving your overall well-being. Prioritizing self-care and relationships is crucial. Make time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul.

Spend quality time with family members and friends, pursue hobbies, or practice mindfulness. Strong relationships provide support, motivation, and accountability, which are essential for achieving your resolutions.

By prioritizing self-care and relationships, you’re setting yourself up for success in the year ahead. Remember, personal growth is not just about what you achieve but also about how you feel and who you become in the process.

Stop Ego Lifting and Embrace The Suck for Personal Growth

Ego Attaches Itself to Wins and Cannot Handle Failure

This is why I have a whole article on haters and why their life sucks. It’s because their ego stops them from growing. One failure like for example they hurt themselves for not lifting properly. Research how to perform exercises safely.

It would blow your fucking mind how much I’ve failed in my fitness journey to get lean and stay lean. But that honestly doesn’t matter. What matters is how you handle challenges in your fitness journey. Can you stay calm in the midst of pressure, for example an intense squat set?

To manage stress, set realistic expectations and practice deep breathing techniques. Brother, if you encounter a challenge, you gotta go in to that willingly. Face your problems like a man. Don’t let your ego get in the way of growing.

The way you man up is you go in to the storm like a man, for example, tackling legs really hard on leg day.

Don’t let your ego narrow your mindset down so much that you won’t change a thing about yourself because you think you’re better than everyone else. There comes a point where you don’t know everything. That’s why I still work with coaches.

Because they know what it takes. They know it takes a never-quit mentality. You may think, “Adam I thought you said follow your own lead?” Yeah I do say that.

But I don’t fucking mean you tune out everyone to the point where you think your hot shit because of your huge muscles and your big ego makes it so you constrict yourself down to not learning anything new. That’s what stops you from growing.

Don’t let your mindset be the reason you can’t learn. Be a student for life my friend because growth is inevitable.

Growth never stops my friend. You need a growth mindset. I really want to say that again, growth never fucking stops. Life will make you grow if you can’t take losses like a true man.

Here’s how we can make New Year’s Resolutions matter. You actually take action and you don’t put any of your goals off. With that said, I am going to give you some items you can buy and save a lot of money.

Creating a Plan for Success

A goal without a plan is just a wish. To make your New Year’s resolutions count, you need a solid plan for success. This involves setting deadlines, creating milestones, and tracking your progress.

Identify potential obstacles and develop strategies to overcome them. For example, if you know you struggle with time management, plan your workouts or study sessions in advance. Stay focused, stay motivated, and most importantly, stay committed.

Regularly review and adjust your plan to ensure you’re on track. Remember, success is not a straight line; it’s a series of adjustments and improvements.

Building a Healthy Routine

Attractive Body

Building a healthy routine is the backbone of achieving your New Year’s resolutions, especially those related to physical and mental health. Start by creating habits that promote well-being, such as regular exercise, healthy eating, and getting enough sleep.

Incorporate stress management techniques like meditation, yoga, or even a simple walk in the park. Prioritize self-care because you can’t pour from an empty cup. By building a healthy routine, you’re not just working towards your goals; you’re creating a lifestyle that supports your personal growth and mental health and your recovery. Most men overlook RECOVERY.

Invest In Your Fitness Journey

Dumbbell Set with Rack

BUY NOW

This is a full weight stack and it’s just a little under $200 dollars. Stamp of approval from Adam Skoda. Buying weight one at a time such as five pounds, followed by ten pounds would be more expensive.

Damn, that’s a good deal. Are you nervous to workout at a gym because you don’t like going out to a high volume gym?

Hands down, I strongly encourage you to get this weight stack, it’s a damn good deal for a ton of weights. Obviously as a man you gotta bolt this bad boy together and put those muscles to work, but it pays off for long term use, it’s extremely durable.

And even if you don’t like it, you get a 30 day warranty. However, it’s worth the deal my friend. It does the trick and it has a very high rating and everyone reports they get the value for the money.

Invest in Your Recovery

Deep Tissue Massage Gun

BUY NOW

If you overlook recovery, you are bound to get hurt. I know I have this crazy mentality to not fucking quit, I’ve made a damaging admission in this article on how overtraining got me hurt.

I wish I had a massage gun when I pulled a back muscle. I would have gotten better much faster and I wouldn’t have to wait to go back to working out.

This motherfucker is powerful tool. Not only is it powerful, it is known as percussive therapy. That deserves a full article on how it works and what the massage gun does to the muscles. So I’m not gonna go in to too much detail and overwhelm you.

Just understand that I have used a massage gun at Anytime Fitness when I trained one-on-one clients. They ALWAYS thanked me when I was done. Remember this, when you turn it on and you use it on your hamstrings…

5 full strokes on your hamstrings. What that means is start on the back of your knee then go up to your lower glute muscle then back down to the back of your knee.

I would honestly buy that now because last I checked there was only two left in stock my friend. My clients absolutely loved it and it’s easy to use.

How To Make New Year’s Resolutions Count by Building New Habits

New Year's Resolution's

Effective budgeting can help you save money and prioritize your spending. So consider getting the items I listed in this article if you don’t like working out at a gym.

If you want a fresh start, if you want to start thinking about improving your fitness, making resolutions doesn’t work. Making resolutions are just a spur of the moment motivation.

Most people have an action plan, but then they fall off the fucking journey they promised to themselves they would not quit. New year’s goals is not the perfect time to start your damn fitness journey.

My friend, the most important way to make New Year’s Resolutions count is you stick to your fucking goals, including your financial goals. Let’s really think about this.

A man that sticks to his guns and doesn’t fucking quit no matter what problems and obstacles are thrown his way, he is bound to achieve his goals.

Why is that? Because it’s like you’re an athlete on the field playing your favorite sport, all of the non action-takers are watching you and they get jealous because you are going places. Joining clubs and participating in hobbies can help you meet new friends, which can be a great support system.

When you take action and other’s are not, it shines a light on what everyone else are not doing. By taking action consistently, you make your New Year’s Resolution’s count.

Seeking feedback and setting individual goals can significantly contribute to your professional development.

Unless you stick to it, here’s what I will continue to say as a personal trainer that see’s potential great people that doubt themselves… Consider planning a road trip as a way to create lasting memories and take a break from your routine.

So here is my HONEST THOUGHTS on this time of year with people who TRY to start and then STOP their healthy habits.

“Fuck resolutions. These are fake goals unless you are actually congruent with yourself and you hold true to your word. Because YOU are an action-taker in a world full of talkers.”

In case you didn’t know, working out is the true gateway drug to becoming more disciplined. And motivation doesn’t mean shit if you don’t follow it up with action.

Even though this may seem like a giant rant, I still love my readers and I want you to succeed. So feel comfortable to comment below and let me know you’ve started taking action. I’ll see you legends next time!
