  • Why Fitness Advice on Social Media SUCKS

Last updated on November 3, 2024

Ha, I bet you clicked on this article and thought, fitness advice sucks Adam huh? And yes, I say to you the reader that there are entrepreneurs out there that promote their program and say, you don't need ANY CERTIFICATIONS!!

Brother's, there will be more to come, because there has been fitness myths throughout the years that I have already busted. Like fat is bad for you. Ha.

And for example, weight lifting & aging and how people use AGE as the biggest fucking excuse to stop working out completely.

NEWSFLASH: I want you all to first swallow the harsh truth that the fitness space is EXTREMELY political. And gyms recruit members in unethical ways. I've seen it first hand. Gym owners won't tell you that.

However, even though I am an entrepreneur myself, I know this to be true through experience. I have seen managers abuse their power. Why? Because it's easy to get caught up in EGO.

Fitness Advice Tells You That The Scale is How You Measure Progress

This is how you lower your self-esteem my friends. The scale is only helpful if you are looking to gain muscle. That’s when you can use it to motivate you to gain muscle as a hardgainer.

However, if your goals are weight loss and shred fat, believe me, it’s a bad plan to weigh yourself every day because then this puts you in your FEMININE whiny energy when you see a weight increase and you want to lose weight.

Consider using fitness apps to track your progress and set goals, as they can provide a more comprehensive view of your fitness journey beyond just the scale.

Do you know what I’m getting at here? You should’t rely on the scale to put you in a better state. Brother’s, as a man, you must know this right now. The scale will grow to be your biggest fear because you know you screwed up on your food intake.

As you’ve predicted, now you know what I am about to say… External validation. Brother’s masculinity is internally validated. Meaning, don’t misinterpret what I’m saying as a misogynistic comment. You already know my viewpoints on the Manosphere right? So that is completely FALSE. Here's the point...

MEN ARE MEANT TO DRAW VALIDATION FROM WITHIN.

Meaning, you need to start using the scale as a means to see where you are at and not use it to measure progress if this destroys your state of mind. That's when it becomes unhealthy. Don't allow the scale to destroy your mindset.

Fitness Advice Tells You to Run on The Treadmill for Two Hours Instead of High Intensity Interval Training

This in my mind is one of the worst you'll ever come across. Brothers, this will wear you down quickly. And if you go on the treadmill, my recommended time limit for my clients is 15 minutes, no longer than that.

Any longer, if you're doing Alpha Body Blueprint, then you will cause yourself to get super hungry, and your body will start breaking down muscle tissue.

Meaning, this is going to have the REVERSE effect. I hope you guys realize that even athletes have overtrained and causes too much stress on the heart. [R]

Too much running causes stress on the ankles as well. This is why you cannot just run away the weight you have either. You need to realize that half of fitness is what you eat. You cannot outtrain a bad diet.

Incorporating resistance training into your exercise routine can help build muscle and improve overall fitness, providing a balanced approach to your workouts.

So don’t get it twisted, even though I say don’t let the scale ruin your state, that doesn’t mean you use that as an excuse to start eating whatever you want. Be disciplined to say no to the most unhealthy dish at Taco Bell.

Fitness Entrepreneurs Say You Don't Need Certifications

Alright Brandon Carter, be prepared for me to point something out in your marketing that I believe you need to STOP SAYING.

Brother's, I have no grudge against him, so don't act like this is just towards him. Honestly, I think he has good taste in books. But his marketing is not good telling men that they don't need certifications.

I have seen MANY entrepreneurs say this not just him. In fact, what really agitates me about this style of marketing is it tells men that you can start a fitness business and not even consider TRAINER INSURANCE.

The last thing I want to see is someone who goes to court because someone got hurt on their program. You guys, if you want to listen to this advice.. I am warning you, this can result in a SERIOUS LAWSUIT.

If you want to take these entrepreneurs advice, here's my take on this.. Get certified. That's like me entering a gym and asking for a trainer, and I find out he has no credentials. How do you think I would respond?

I would look at him like he needs to stop flexing his muscles and acting like just because he can bench 300 pounds, that he can start teaching weightlifting but he is just in his massive superiority complex. This is another issue with persona

Fitness Influencer's Flex Their Muscles and Act Full of Themselves

Brother’s I am telling you the truth… Years ago I fell in to the trap of this category when I competed in a fitness physique show. But then I saw how the average person viewed fitness competitors…

They look at them and they are either jealous or inspired. And here’s what I learned… I realized that I got in my ego too much, and it rubbed off on people the wrong way.

Following structured fitness programs can help you stay on track and achieve your fitness goals more effectively.

So here’s what I learned, you need to be humble, yes this is the one time where I will not say, “Fuck humility” like I say on my podcast sometimes. That only applies when you’re bantering with girls and they like your playful cockiness.

However, this article is on fitness advice. Understand that if you want to listen to fitness influencer’s, you need to find the ones that have the following:

  • A good reputation with their clients

  • Real transformations (not faked)

  • A certification

Training my client Jason Hall

If there is one common comment you are hearing from me today, that is a shit load of entrepreneurs are marketing to naive men to not get certified and learn to make money without a certification.

This is EXTREMELY bad advice. So here’s what happens, they flex their muscles and act like that’s enough to attract clients. Brother’s, you need a reputation to uphold in the fitness field.

I know some of you may question mine due to the fact that I have dating & attraction articles, but here’s the point brothers… Half of the hundred people I’ve trained were WOMEN. And they knew about my dating advice. So that argument is BULLSHIT.

This is why I target men, they are lazy nowadays and choose the easy solution. Start being responsible of your damn health my friends.

Brother's, your ego will not attract clients. That means the fitness advice that you hear is you need to flex your muscles to be considered "Cool." No, this is not cool. And let me tell you why...

A Story of a Client Who Observed My Workout

One time I worked out and this client, Ann Marie, she observed me. And she said, “Adam, most of everything I saw you do I cannot do at all.”

That means if you decide to become a trainer… People will start comparing themselves to you inevitably. And you need to get out of your fucking head because we all go in to comparison mode.

People do place me on a pedestal when it comes to knowing how to do pull-ups, for example. Don’t compare yourself to me, take your time on that exercise. You need to focus on yourself and your own journey.

Here are some fitness tips: start with exercises that match your current fitness level, gradually increase intensity, and always listen to your body to avoid injury.

Fitness Advice Encourages Black Market Supplements

Any of you bodybuilders out there, do not take this as an attack against your cycle and how you stay bulky year round. My issue with this is I don’t want any man out there inexperienced doing this shit.

It’s very easy to slip down the rabbit hole with being not satisfied on how you look in the mirror and then you start turning to black market supplements to stay in shape. That is technically FEMININE energy. Instead of turning to black market supplements, consider incorporating strength training into your routine to build muscle and improve your physique safely.

Plus if you cannot eat the right foods, steroids are fucking pointless. Brother’s I have friends who do this shit, and they tell me how expensive it is. So that’s your decision. You need to consult with your doctor and you need to listen to your body, do not carelessly start doing black market supplements without some type of guidance.

That simply means… For the love of God, do not misinterpret this message and act like I am attacking people who do this. One of my coaches has done cycles of steroids. But the point is you NEED to seriously ask yourself if you want to fuck up your hormones. Because here’s the facts brothers…

One of my friends named Matt, he asks me for dating & attraction advice because of how much he is EXTERNALLY validated on his body. Here’s my point, do not do black market supplements to fit in and be accepted.

Unrealistic Expectations

Girls compare themselves just as much as men

Brothers, let’s get real for a moment. One of the biggest traps in the fitness journey is setting unrealistic expectations. You see those shredded influencers and think you’ll look like them in a month.

NEWSFLASH: That’s a recipe for disappointment and frustration. Fitness is a long-term process, and it’s normal to hit setbacks and plateaus.

Set achievable goals and celebrate those small victories. Maybe you ran an extra mile or lifted a heavier weight—those are wins! Be patient with yourself and stop comparing your progress to others. Focus on making sustainable lifestyle changes that you can maintain in the long term. Remember, this is YOUR journey, not a race against someone else.

Lack of Personalization

Here’s another reason why fitness advice on social media sucks: it’s often a one-size-fits-all approach. Brothers, what works for one person might not work for you. That’s why it’s crucial to tailor your fitness routine to your individual needs, goals, and preferences.

Consider working with a personal trainer or fitness coach to help you create a personalized fitness plan. Take into account your lifestyle, schedule, and fitness level. And be willing to adjust your routine as needed to ensure you’re making progress and staying motivated. A personalized approach is the key to avoiding those dreaded plateaus and keeping your fitness journey on track. Now, let's start talking about SOLUTIONS to shitty social media advice...

Setting Obtainable Goals

Setting obtainable goals is essential for achieving success in your fitness journey. Brothers, make sure your goals are specific, measurable, and attainable. Don’t just say, “I want to get fit.” Instead, say, “I want to lose 10 pounds in three months” or “I want to run a 5K in under 30 minutes.”

Break down those large goals into smaller, manageable tasks. This helps you stay focused and motivated. Create a timeline for achieving your goals and track your progress along the way. And don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishments. If you encounter setbacks, don’t be too hard on yourself. Adjust your plan and keep moving forward.

Nutrition for a Healthier Lifestyle

Brothers, let’s talk about nutrition. You can’t out-train a bad diet. Nutrition plays a critical role in achieving a healthier lifestyle. Focus on consuming whole, unprocessed foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Avoid sugary drinks and foods high in added sugars, salt, and unhealthy fats.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. And if you’re unsure about what to eat, consider working with a registered dietitian or nutritionist to help you create a personalized nutrition plan. Remember, what you put into your body is just as important as your workout routine.

Mindset and Mental Health

Your mindset and mental health are just as important as your physical activity. Focus on creating a positive and supportive mindset. Avoid negative self-talk and self-criticism. Practice self-care and stress-reducing techniques, such as meditation and deep breathing. Fitness advice completely ignores mental health.

Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who encourage and motivate you. Celebrate your progress and accomplishments, and don’t be too hard on yourself if you encounter setbacks. A strong, positive mindset is the foundation of a successful fitness journey. Keep your head in the game, and you’ll achieve your fitness goals.

The Takeaway: Why Fitness Advice on Social Media Sucks

silver plan

URGENT: THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE BOOTCAMP.

If there is one common theme in this article, I want you to realize the seriousness of not getting certified if you want to start an online fitness brand. No insurance, this is bound to have major consequences.

And I also want you to be mindful of not screwing up your joints when running on the treadmill, instead consider trying The Gauntlet (HIIT Workout).

More importantly, don’t let the scale ruin your internal validation. Also, watching your damn ego if you end up becoming a fitness influencer because a lot of people will compare themselves to you, inevitably.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a consistent exercise routine are crucial for long-term fitness success.

Fitness advice can easily be questionable if trainer’s for example, V Shred, they can do one thing to screw up their reputation. [R]

Many trainer's have spoken against that guy. I have my opinions, but that's not the point. You guys might have an opinion on me already because some of you know by now, I am in the GP Penitentiary community.

However, I still follow my own lead and my own rules on what I believe is good fitness advice. I don't take what Wes Watson says as Gospel. For example, I do not partake in black market supplements. All good, I still love you Wes and your amazing book.

How you interpret this article is on you. Just remember, fixed mindset vs growth mindset. Often you'll notice, we all have an ego. And you should know, a fixed mindset is EGO.

So if you bought in to some of this that I listed out, realize that you are about to grow. In fact, a lot of you I'm sure have burning desire to want to achieve fitness goals if you take your health seriously.

The point is for you to watch who you take advice from. And apply what you want to apply in your fitness journey. Please leave a comment below if this has raised you're eyebrows.

Feel comfortable to let me know what else you want me to write an article on.
